Anyone who has organised a large gathering knows that life has a habit of intervening. Illness, school commitments, work schedules and caring responsibilities can all affect plans. That’s why we don’t operate a named guest policy: when you book Walpole House, the house is yours for up to 19 guests.
If your plans change and you need to move your dates, we’ll always try to help with a free date change, subject to availability.

Rushing everyone through a Friday evening arrival is rarely anyone’s idea of a relaxing start. That’s why we offer early arrival options whenever possible:

With key-safe entry and direct garden access, guests can arrive at different times without any fuss.

Sometimes the weather is perfect, everyone is getting along brilliantly and nobody wants the weekend to end. Subject to availability, sometimes even at the last minute, we can often offer:

We can help, as we know many of the great walks (including some in period costume) and cycle routes (plus cycle hire) in the area, for example the Viking Coastal Trail.
And all the best things to do in Margate when the weather might keep you indoors, from bowls to ten-pin bowling, from escape rooms to axe throwing.

Thanet, Margate and Dreamland have special events throughout the year. Walpole House allows you to have all your friends and family together to celebrate the occasion.
SPECIAL CALL TO WILD SWIMMERS
Walpole Lido has a solid core of swimmers all year round. They have organised a sauna on the beach next to the lido that is open most mornings throughout the year. Walpole Lido is a short walk from Walpole House, and it’s always full no matter the tide.

Margate
Margate offers the Soul Festival, Carnival and Margate Meltdown, plus art talks and exhibitions at Turner Contemporary and independent galleries. Dreamland is alive not only with the screams of rides but a packed music programme.
Broadstairs
Broadstairs tempts you with its annual foot-tapping Folk Week and Blues Bash, scrumptious three-day Food Festivals, and the elegant Dickens Festival.
Ramsgate
Ramsgate’s Festival of Sound celebrates the town’s unique architecture and landscape via a Sonic Trail, plus a variety of entertainment for all the family. Ramsgate Through the Senses is a festival weekender with events to inspire your senses, and Ramsgate Week enjoys a packed programme of sailing. Look out for monthly craft markets and weekly art exhibitions.
